Never Say Never

Luke 22:33-34 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. 34And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

Often, I remind people to “never say never.” You never know what you might do in any given situation. Peter never thought he would deny Jesus. That was simply unfathomable to him. He loved Jesus. He had given up everything to follow Him as had the rest of the disciples.

Sometimes we believe with our whole hearts that we would not possibly ever do certain things. In fact, we believe we simply could not. We believe we are above it because our pride makes us cocky and self-assured.

Personally, I have fallen far too many times to ever claim that I would never do any particular thing. Hard lessons have taught me well.

The beauty of the fall, no matter what you have done, is that Jesus already knew what would happen. He is simply waiting for your repentant heart to turn back to Him. The question becomes, will you repent, take up your cross and continue to follow Him? He is ready and willing to receive you. If denying that he even knew Jesus wasn’t too grievous for Jesus to forgive Peter, nothing you’ve done is either.

Lord help us to be your humble servants and not let our pride get in the way of repentance, restoration and reconciliation.
